As a writer and editor of numerous of travel guidebooks, such free iPhone apps certainly impact the sale of travel guidebooks. But, I will admit that it is is easier to carry an iPhone than a guidebook, and somebody is writing these apps, even though it’s not me.
Carrying an iPhone may be easier than carrying a guidebook, but those of us who are unwilling to pay the hefty monthly fee required still travel the old-fashioned way, with a guidebook and some maps.
